It's Been How Long?

     Happy Fall y'all!

Obviously I'm not very good at blogging.  It has been a LONG time.  So, what's new at Later Gator?

After much consideration, I have decided that I will only be doing Art Shows in Door and Kewaunee County for 2018.  Possible into Brown County...  This is due to the fact that I am unable to drive anywhere with my displays and products in one trip with my little Subaru.  Love my car, but just can't do it in one trip.

If you have seen me at any shows, you will have seen that I have expanded into using repurposed wood for many of my products.  These include:  Wooden prints, wooden blocks, hanging velcro blocks, and tables.  Any of my images may be used on these products, so if you have any questions about them, please ask.  Special orders taken.

To all of my customers who purchased the hanging velcro blocks, please remember that if you'd like additional blocks for inter-changing, take a look at my postcards and as long as they are a vertical image, they may be used for those blocks.  I had many requests at my last show for a back which holds one block.   Those will be available soon.

I have also decided to no longer sell matted prints.  Those will only be available at shows and are half price!!  5x7's and 8x10's will be available, but once they are gone, they're gone.

Let's see, what else...

I am determined to get my website updated this fall.  It's a lengthy process as each piece I make must be photographed front and back since each is an individual piece.  Therefore, you will see the same image multiple times on my website, but there will be differences in them.  Each wooden piece will only show as one available.

Also at my shows, I had customers asking for Birthday Postcards.  I chose instead to do Best Wishes Postcards as those can be used in multiple ways.  ie./ birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  I have also added wine quotes, beer quotes, village scenes from Door County and miscellaneous other new cards.  Plus, I will be adding more in the start of 2018!!

I'll stop here since this is getting lengthy and I vow to improve my blogging experiences...

Wishing all of you a wonderful and safe Autumn!

How do you do it?

Hello All!

Recently I was asked "What is it you really do for your job?"  So, I thought I'd show you what I do with a vintage postcard.  In the beginning there was an old, old postcard...  I bought that postcard, and proceeded to "fix it up."

That means, cleaning up all the ink marks, crease marks, color fading, removing the dirt marks.  Now I NEVER, EVER change the original artwork.  I'm taking the original artwork and bringing it back to how it looked originally.   Some of them are so beautiful that it seems a shame that others, such as yourself, won't see it.  This is why I do what I do.

The colors are only from that postcard.  That is often the hardest part.  Finding the cleanest part of the card to use.  I NEVER, EVER remove an artist's name.  That is their art, not mine!   I NEVER, EVER remove a company name.  They printed it and published it originally.  If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be seeing it.  I always try to search for the artist and company to make sure I'm not using a product I shouldn't be using.

This is one postcard I worked on today.  It took me an hour and a half to finish this.  This is an easy one.  Imagine how long it takes me to fix up a difficult one.

A great feeling of accomplishment!  So, I hope this lets you know "what I do."  If you have questions or have an old card you would like "fixed up", contact me.

So, Enjoy the day!!  and Smile, the weekends almost here!
